You get what pay for, and by Zermatt standards, it’s cheap. The beds were fine, and the room was warm. It is in a great position- centre of town. The  breakfast was adequate but basic. The ensuite was very small, but  adequate. The main problem was the sound insulation - or lack of it. The noise on the floor above was intolerable. 
All in all, it was reasonable for the money.

Get what you pay for…

Switzerland is a very, very expensive country and accommodation and food doesn’t come cheap. This budget option, right at the centre of everything is OK if you’re passing through and can manage your expectations.

The accommodation is above an Italian restaurant called Grampi’s. The restaurant seems to be the family’s main business with the rooms as an add-on. We arrived at lunch time and so there were staff in the restaurant welcoming diners - our names were checked off a list on the door, we were handed our key and pointed up the stairs. That was the end of our engagement with staff.

The room smelled of stale sweat and was incredibly dingy. Even with all the lights on we couldn’t read. The bathroom had virtually no light - it was too dark to shower.

Breakfast was served in the main restaurant and had a very nice aspect overlooking the town. Breakfast items were fresh and delicious, but were not replaced when they had run out. Get there early or miss out.

We ate in the restaurant and had a couple of pizzas between three of us. It is eye-wateringly expensive but seemed a good option for Zermatt. Good quality, tasty pizzas with the bill delivered in the bib of a soft toy (St Bernard).

Where this accommodation excels is the location - about ten minutes from the station, in the middle of the main shopping street, really close to the historic wooden buildings and the bridge famous for watching the Matterhorn sunrise, and close to the funicular. Top spot.

I’d say go with low expectations, spend most of the day out and limit your time here. It does the job.

Horrible experience, very rude host, don’t stay, very very small rooms, poor option in breakfast, dirty hotel, no cleaning or toiletries.

Bad hotel

Our 2 stars hotel is located in the heart of Zermatt, only a few minutes from the train station. We have lovely small and clean rooms with a bathroom and TV in each.
