Thank you Christina and Marcus. You are incredible hosts and have a beautiful hotel. The decor is wonderful ( well done Christina) so comfortable, spotlessly clean excellent breakfast and tea/coffee available at all times. The location is a short walk from the two gondolas Penkan and Ahorn and  near great restaurants and bars in the town. Most appreciated by us was the advice and knowledge that you have of the whole area and restaurants. Every day you sent us on a new adventure and gave us memories that we will never forget. We were a group of 6 and the plan was to ski. Except for me. Christina assured me that I would enjoy my holiday too and Christina and Marcus gave me detailed information and maps of transport and winter walking trails which are fabulous. You made my holiday and I hope to come back. Mayrhofen is wonderful for both skiers and hikers in the winter a fact I was unaware of before arriving.

Top class accommodation, great location and the best hosts I have ever met.

We returned to this hotel in July 2025.  We think this was our 10th visit having stayed before in the summer, as well as at Christmas and New Year.  Our winter visits are a package via Crystal but in the summer we book flights to Innsbruck and then travel to Mayrhofen via train, which is a really cost effective and easy journey.

We stayed in a superior 1st floor room, number 8 and this was a beautiful, well equipped room, with a private balcony (with a table and chairs as well as a comfy day bed).  There was also further seating along with a table in the room.  The room as usual was kept very clean by the maid.

The breakfasts are so thoughtfully prepared by Christine with fresh produce and so much variety you are spoilt for choice.  Christines attention to detail in every aspect is simply first class and Markus has worked so hard refurbishing the bedrooms which are very smart.

The main reason we return time and time again to this hotel are the wonderful hosts Christine and Markus who are just brilliant at what they do and such a great team!   Thank you both so much for a lovely stay, hopefully we will see you again in the future.

This place is the cutest in Austria!

It's walking distance from everywhere, really quiet, comfy beds, exquisite breakfast with fresh fruit & juice. The best homemade omelette and cakes.

The room has a beautiful view with a balcony, a hot, powerful modern shower, and the bed, duvet and mattress is perfect 🥰 

Treats await at the door apres ski, and the drying room in the basement is delightful along with refreshments ♡

The cutest place in Austria ♡

We booked this hotel based on the 5 star reviews on trip advisor. We were not disappointed. This is one of the loveliest hotels we have ever stayed in. Christina and Marcus are the most wonderful hosts. Taking care of everything from booking restaurants, making scrambled eggs in the morning, showing us the best slopes to go on and generally anything we asked they helped.
Skiing -  the Ahorn had some wonderful wide slopes, perfect for your level of skiing.
The Penkenbahn aslo had some good slopes but was very busy.
We went to Hintertux to go in the Glazier, although this trip is advertised as needing a reasonable level of fitness, the day we went there was a blizzard on the summit and getting to the 2hr walk inside the Glazier was somewhat hard work. But worth it as the views inside are spectacular.
There are some wonderful restaurants in Mayrhofen and the Berg and Tal was one of our favourites. For cheaper food then Mo's was perfect.
All in all a great trip made better by our Hosts.

Ski Trip to Mayrhofen

This was a repeat visit for me - this time for hiking.   It's a fantastic place to base yourself for a hiking or indeed ski trip in the Zillertal area with lots of bus/train options so no need for a car.  The Hotel location is central and only a short walk to Penkenbahn (5 mins), Ahorn Gondola (7 mins) and train station (~10mins).  Our beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean room had a fantastic mountain view with balcony (large enough to sit out), comfortable beds and bathroom with a lovely hot shower/bath and separate WC (perfect if you are sharing).    Christina and Markus, the owners, are just the most amazing hosts  - so welcoming and take great pride in ensuring all guests have a wonderful stay at their property.   Being local, they have a wealth of knowledge and provided us with lots of great insights and tips on where to go on day trips, especially since we  had very challenging weather conditions  during our stay (we unfortunately arrived during Storm Boris in Sept 24 when heavy rain/snow (yes snow!) was engulfing the area).  
Breakfast was a real highlight - with an array of high quality local produce served up fresh every day with options for all dietary requirements).    There is no 'onsite' restaurant at the property but lots of great options in the village.  Our hosts shared some great recommendations which I am happy to say were super -  Hotel Perauer (definitely recommend the Chateaubriand if you want to splurge), Mr Lei (great for sushi and other Asian dishes), Goldkind (bistrofood) and Pane e Vino (Italian).   We also liked Bar Rique wine bar for a quiet drink/snacks (they also do great cocktails).    We also liked the Max Hutte up the mountain near Ginzling which had great food and fabulous views.    Hotel Strauss has a lovely spa if you want a break from the hiking/skiing and has reasonably priced treatments available to non-guests.

Alpin Hotel Garni Eder have just the best hosts - you have to put it on your bucket list when visiting Mayrhofen!
