Positives first…. warm welcoming arrival with a glass of bubbly.. first impressions very traditional rustic decor lovely open fire and  sweet little seating area around the bar… the staff were attentive friendly and helpful. The food was delicious and the location was perfect.. a short 10 minute walk down hill to the town or the bust stop right outside the hotel when you have ski gear to carry around.. Morzine town was a lovely combo of bars restaurants and shops basically something for everyone…

We traveled as a family of 6.. family room number 7. for 2 adults and 2 children and myself and partner in a premium double number 4 which was  extremely compact.. if you open the wardrobe door the other can’t move around the bed and vice versa.. the lighting was very dark even with all the lights on which made finding things difficult we used our phone flashlight to find what we were looking for in the wardrobe. We noticed the room next door had to store their cases outside on the balcony because of lack of space in the room…
The bathroom was more like an under stairs loo that they had squeezed a shower in..  I am 5ft 2 and when on the loo had to sit sideways as it’s so small.
 The towel rail was so close to the toilet your towels touched the toilet seat which was not very hygienic . it was a wet room with a shower curtain that made showering difficult as it stuck to you due to lack of space and all the water from the shower covered the floor and then seeped out under the door to soak the bedroom carpet… there was no space or shelf to  put anything in the bathroom for toiletries.. not even a glass to put your toothbrush in so had to get one from the dining room.. 

The main dining room was warm cozy and nicely lit where afternoon coffee and cake was served… it was also where the self service breakfast was laid out…  each table had you name on it for the entirety of your stay… all great except there is an overspill dining room that we were seated in down a corridor away from the main room.. not cozy at all I fact  it was freezing. There is a fire door that acts as access to and from the pool area.. so 
 during your evening meals the door was constantly being opened and closed with through traffic letting in the cold.  

The bar area seats at max 15 guests.. the hotel holds 50 people plus the chalet Philibert who also have access to the hotel facilities holds 16..  there were many times after dinner we wanted to sit in the warmth and coziness of the bar area only to find there was no where to sit…   So you have the option to sit in a cold soulless dining room on a dining chair all evening away from the warmth of the main reception or go to your room ! 
 chalet Philibert is in the same location but you are not allowed to use the chalets outdoor hot tub which seemed a little unfair as the chalet can you all the facilities of the hotel.? 

I think the hotel has maxed out it’s earning potential at the expense of guest comfort..  that said  we had a lovely fun holiday , my comments are not aimed at or reflect the staff and service we received during our stay at the hotel that was all wonderful..

A perfect holiday before Christmas. The hotel is rustic and extremely homely. The food has been exceptional. 

A big thank you to Dan the Manager, Jack the barman and all of the amazing staff at Hotel Philibert. 

We look forward to returning next Christmas. X

Superb Hotel

This is a lovely rustic Alpine hotel and in a good spot to get to all the activities in Morzine. It is about a 15 minute walk (downhill) to the lifts and the pool.  The staff are very friendly and helpful. The pool is lovely and the views are amazing. There is a good range of teas and coffee that you can help yourself to in the dining room. 

The hotel is 3 star and a little bit tired in places. If you are expecting a modern bedroom with air con, then you will be disappointed. We were in rooms 12 and 13.  If you are a couple, I would try to avoid room 13 as there is not a lot of room in there. Room 12 was nice with a balcony so we put our suitcases out of the way on the balcony. 

It says that the transfer time is around 1.5 hours.  We landed at 11, the meeting time with Alpine Elements was 12.30, but it was more like 1pm before we got on the bus and closer to 3pm by the time we arrived at the hotel. 

If you like biking and want to try the downhill biking that Morzine is famous for then you will need to hire bikes locally. The Alpine Elements bikes are in good condition, but are not suitable for those trails. They do have a few road bikes, but you will need to plan your own routes.

Friendly hotel in a lovely location

Excellent stay at Hotel Philibert with Alpine Elements.   The staff were a great team working together with the Manager leading by example.  The hotel itself was lovely with a bar area where there was always someone during opening hours to serve and somewhere to sit and relax.   The evening meals were lovely with good choices.  The pool area had plenty of seating and the pool always looked inviting.  Our bedroom (room 12) was a good choice, on the larger size with plenty of storage, a large balcony and good bathroom with powerful shower.  The room does face the front but on the top floor and we were not disturbed by any road noise.    A 10 minute walk takes you into a pretty square which is the start of Morzine shops and restaurants.  The activities provided by Alpine Elements were well organised.  Overall a fabulous stay at Hotel Philibert.

Staff = double fantastic 
Food = very good
Location = easy bus to slopes 
Alice and the team couldn’t be more helpful the pool was great after a days skiing for my son.
Beds were too hard for myself but that’s just my preference                           all in all 10out of 10 booking for next year smashing hotel cozy

Great hotel

The Philibert is a beautiful Savoyard hotel, lovingly crafted from local wood and stone. It’s run exclusively by us and enjoys some of the best views in Morzine from its position high above the town centre (while still only 5 minutes walk to the centre of town). Enjoy wonderful views of the ski slopes of Le Pleney in the distance and the mountains of Avoriaz behind. It’s a quick 5-minute shuttle from just outside the chalet to the main lifts - and the best skiing that the Portes du Soleil has to offer. Stepping outside, we’re lucky that you have the choice to catch the Morzine bus on one side of the street or the Avoriaz bus on the other side. Not many places have the Avoriaz lifts at Les Prodains a direct shuttle ride away. We also have have the ‘Chalet Petit-Philibert next door. It’s perfect for groups of 12-15 who want the extra privacy of a chalet, but with all the facilities and perks of a hotel.
