We have just returned from a fantastic week at Hotel de Champoluc.  The location is perfect, at the bottom of the run down and a 50 metre walk to the gondola.  Although the run down is classed as black, it is not too difficult and I would describe it as a good red run.  There is plenty of skiing, with runs over to Gressonay and Alagna.  Inghams also sorted a day out at Cervinia, the coach cost 32 euros return but our lift pass also covered that ski area.
The hotel is a 5-10 minute walk to the bars in Champoluc.  We liked Sans Souci and Il Golo.  Bruno’s is also worth a stop on the last run down, being about 200 metres above the gondola station.
We had a newly renovated room (306) which was excellent with a view of the piste and v quiet.  It had a comfortable double bed plus a single bed and an excellent rain head walk in shower.
Max and his staff were all very friendly and helpful and the food, both breakfast and evening meal was top notch.
Nothing not to like about this hotel.

Top ski hotel

I’m sure there are more palatial hotels with long marble-lined corridors or amazing vistas across sunlit bays with palatial reception rooms of chrome and glass, but if you are looking for an amazing ski hotel then the Hotel de Champoluc is just about perfect. First up is that amazing location. So many hotels boast a ski in ski out location but this hotel really offers this. Upon leaving the boot room then you simply have to cross the last few metres of the black run that will bring you back, go up the small escalator and you are on the main gondola that will take up up the slopes. Although the run down is classified as a black run, it won’t present a problem to the vast majority of skiers and if one is tired a the end of the day then simply jump back into the gondola heading down. 
Rooms are lovely. We had booked one of the newly-refurbished rooms and these are nicely appointed and comfortable. There were four in our party and we had two adjacent rooms at the end of the corridor. The beds are comfortable, the bathrooms were warm courtesy of the heated towel rails and the showers hot. One teeny criticism is that the room proper could do with being a bit warmer especially when the outside temp hit 15 below and maybe the radiator in the bedroom could do with being a bit bigger. 
Meals are fabulous with a fully-featured buffet style breakfast with lots of choice and the staff are attentive and will bring hot drinks of your choice to your table. Evening meals, we were half-board, were also buffet style with lots of choice and nicely cooked tasty food that the chefs took a genuine delight over. One can have a choice of water or red/white wine with one’s meal included in the package.
Afternoon tea with cake, biscuits, soup, sandwiches is available each day with the only exception being the day when the staff are given a rest day. Even then there is a hot water urn running constantly so that guests can help themselves to tea, coffee and infusions all day long. Then the nice bar with competitively priced drinks. 
Staff are wonderful, helpful and kind as is Max, the owner, who works really hard and can be found helping the staff at breakfast or clearing the entrance with his snow blower and always making sure that the place is running smoothly, which of course it does. 
This is a true family hotel and there is a games room for the children as well as a spa. The boot room is in the basement and offers the warm-air loops for making sure one’s ski boots are dry the following day and the skis can be placed in the racks. A short walk and you are ready to cross the end of the piste as mentioned above. 
All in all we had a fabulous week and at its end apart from not wanting to leave, we could see just why so many book to return to this wonderful ski hotel which must rate as among the best that we have ever stayed in. We wish them well.

It is amazing! The hotel owner Max is really kind and nothing is too much trouble for him to deal with. It is 15 second from ski rental and another 10 second from ther to the lifts.
