We stayed as part of a tour group over Christmas. The staff are friendly and the location is handy with a coin laundry on site. The coffee shop near the foyer has good coffee. There was a lovely decorated Christmas lounge room near the foyer. There is also the Mount Norway shuttle bus that stops at the hotel next door. The only downside to our stay was a technical glitch that caused our tv to come on randomly in the early hours of the morning.

Stayed here for the third time. All 3 experiences have been great. Closest to downtown you can get without being in it. Across the street from the grocery store. Cafe on site. Breakfast is great and family friendly seating and atmosphere. The loft style rooms are nice and fun for the kids. No views but not a dealbreaker. This hotel was accessible for members in our group who needed strollers and wheelchairs- no little stairs or back alley doors to parking like some of the other Banff properties- just long wide hallways and elevators.

We stayed at the Elk & Avenue hotel for one night while visiting the Banff Christmas market. Our room was clean and the bed comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful. The on-site coffee shop was good. The underground parking was spacious and easy. Great location, close to shops and restaurants.

Thank you for providing detailed feedback on your recent stay with us. It's nice to see that you enjoyed certain aspects of the hotel such as the great staff but we could have done and should have done a much better job of ensuring the room was ready for you as a guest. From the coffee machine to the kettle to the telephone, they all should have been ready for use immediately. I have shared your feedback and we will aspire to learn from this. In our next reno not so far away, we will make it a point of focus to add more central outlets to this room as the current layout needs improvement.

Appearances, appearances… The hotel looks very good on the outside, with great staff and good looking amenities (good bed, shampoo, and the such).

However, quickly one realizes that it is all appearance. Not reality. The minifridge FROZE everything in it. Absolutely NO OUTLETS to connect anything to, meaning one has to connect and charge phones to only one very inconveniently placed outlet in the middle of the room. The coffee machine and water heater did not work. The cleaning was superficial, lazy, incomplete, both since we started our stay (and one has to “ask” for it. The telephone was disconnected when we arrived. The television was of very bad quality. Absolutely zero privilege of staying in the hotel for eating in the restaurant - 1 hour wait time (even though half the restaurant was empty). 

Is this what going to a hotel is in 2025? Not worth the price.

Absolutely loved this hotel, it was all we could ask for.  Clean room, kind, helpful and friendly staff.  Loved the food in the restaurant, especially breakfast. Highly recommend, perfectly situated in Banff on the avenue. 
Only negative, and was personal to us, was the heat in the hotel. Very warm! Good for the outside climate but was too much for us. 
Other than that, no faults at all.
