Hotel Alpina succeeded our expectations! The room was comfortable and nicely decorated with a beautiful view from the balcony. The location was perfect! What made our stay extra enjoyable was the EXCEPTIONAL hospitality provided by FREJ who was working at the front desk. He was so genuine, kind, helpful and eager to please. He is the kind of person that nothing is too much trouble. He made us feel like we had a friend in Murren! Nothing was a bother for him. He truly added to our stay. I hope he knows the difference he makes. I was just reminiscing about our time in Switzerland and he came to mind. People who work in hospitality may not realize how much their kindness/helpfulness means. I think it is extra appreciated when you are  from another country and have been planning the trip for a year or more (and feel a little vulnerable when you don't speak the language, are not familiar with the area, etc.). Don't hesitate to stay at Hotel Alpina. I hope you have the chance to meet Frej. I am confident he will make your stay as enjoyable as he did ours.

We had another wonderful stay at the Hotel Alpina! The rooms are basic and very clean, but the real feature is the absolutely beautiful view from the balcony.  Murren is the best place to stay in the Lauterbrunnen Valley as it's a little quieter than down in the actual valley and the trails are at your doorstep.  It's important to note that the hotel doesn't have any elevators so you must be comfortable with walking the stairs, but the views are worth it!

What a wonderful find in Murren. We were drawn to the Hotel Alpina by it's affordability compared to other properties nearby, and could not have been happier with our decision. From the friendly check-in to the amazing views and wonderful staff everything was so relaxing and enjoyable. Our room (#16) was compact but certainly fine for the two of us. Clean and nicely furnished. BUT THE VIEW!!! We brought takeout from the nearby Thai restaurant one night after hiking just so we could enjoy it on our patio. If we're ever lucky enough to return to Murren (which we hope to do) we'll definitely return to The Hotel Alpina.

Wonderful 3 Days in August

The only reason I am giving a 4 over a 5 stars is due to the fact there is no coffee maker in the room. If this isn’t something a person cares about then consider this a 5 star review. This is a budget friendly hotel for the area. The view IS OUTSTANDING! The staff is lovely! We ate at the on site restaurant both nights we stayed and the food was good. Highly recommend the Apple strudel with caramel ice cream! The room has a dated retro vibe but in a very charming way. The hotel does not have elevators but the attendant offered to bring up our luggage which we appreciated but didn’t need. The bathtub/shower combo would be concerning for someone with mobility issues. The top reached my hip area, I am 5 feet tall, late 50’s and not athletic and I had no problem getting in or out. But someone much older or with mobility issues might want to take note. The room was clean and well kept. No AC but the weather was cool so we opened the balcony door. I would absolutely stay here again if we are in the area.

Traditional family-runned & owned hotel & restaurant with a personal atmosphere. Finest location right at the cliff with the most spectacular views to the Eiger, Monch, Jungfrau as well as in to the Lauterbrunnen valley. All rooms are are non-smoking with bath/shower/WC or shower/WC, balcony, cable flatscreenTV/radio, minibar and hairdryer. WIFI is free for our guests and is available in the rooms and in the public area. All of our guests have free entrance to the indoor-pool and ice rink (only winter) at the Sport Center Murren. (200M from us) All guests also have reduction to all the facilities at the Alpina Spa Murren and discount for ski rentals. We are looking forward to welcoming you! Family Taugwalder with team
