Would we stay at Garni Geier again?  My word we would!  Garni Geier is a lovely family run hotel and the family are just wonderful and very helpful.  The people in the north of Italy all speak fluent German and Italian and Karen speaks reasonable English and if she doesn’t understand what we are asking then she uses a translator app to help her understand.

Skiing in the Dolomites is a unique experience.  There are 12 resort areas and several villages within each resort area. Garni Geier is located in the village of Santa Christina in the resort area of Val Gardena. Because all signs are written in both Italian and German and are often abbreviated, Santa Christina is signposted as S.Christina or St Christina.

I think the majority of people agree that Val Gardena is the best of the 12 resort areas but it makes little difference because they are all interlinked and all very good.  Santa Christina is a very pretty village ideally located close to lifts.  The free ‘Skibus’ makes it very easy to get from Garni Geier to the lifts either at Santa Christina or other villages.

As I mentioned earlier, skiing in the Dolomites is unique.  The southern Alps or southern Tyrol often misses the weather systems that dump on the Alps just a little bit north resulting in very little natural snow at times.  However, this makes the Dolomites the area with the most sunny days for skiing and all those cold clear nights allow the worlds most sophisticated snow making machines to churn out unimaginable amounts of snow that is groomed to perfection every night leaving 1200 km of groomed trails every morning.

This was our first time to the Dolomites to ski. The bestway to access this accommodation from the airport is by the autostrada  ( 4 lane highway). This family owned business, from 1967,  was great. Our room was spacious, clean and a great view of the Dolomites. We parked under ground. We had our own ski locker, where we would lock our ski equipment up each night. The area was clean and an area was there to put boots on. We had a 5 minute walk to the bus. Bus service to local ski area lifts was free. We were greeted by the mother, who is delightful, upon check In. Every morning, we had a little treat at our spot for breakfast. Breakfast was good. A good selection of fruits, cereals, yogurt, etc. And a soft boiled egg if you want. The coffee was the best. We went to grocery store and bought some for home. The owners all came out and said good bye when we left. Easy walk to town and local shops. We felt very comfortable here and would highly recommend it. The town is quiet but the views are amazing. You buy lifts tickets from shops in town or near ski lift. Our room had a balcony and sun porch. Very nice area to watch sun go down over the Dolomites and sip a glass of wine. I can not say enough about the kindness and helpfulness of the owners. They go up and beyond. Must pay in cash. Half before you come and the rest at the end of your stay.

This is a wonderful little bed and breakfast. It is situated exactly across a waterfall and has great views. The owners are lovely people who go out of their way to make you feel welcome and satisfied. Big rooms with balconies and modern facilities and the breakfasts are wonderful.

The rooms were very nice and comfortable and seemed newly renovated. This nice family hotel had a very nice breakfast area with a marvelous skiers breakfast . We were also able to use the breakfast area to gather our small group after a full days skiing. Everything about the hotel including the location was very good. But mot of all, the Geier family made everything they could to make our stay pleasant. The helped us for example to book dinner at different reastaurants. Every day a new place and every time a very good choice by them.
I could recommend this hotel any time and will come back
