A group of 11 of us took over the whole chalet. It was the first time with ski Amis and probably the last one. The entire booking process was a nightmare with ski Amis staff having no idea who paid for what. The whole chalet was filthy, particularly the kitchen floor and the toilets which had not been properly cleaned prior to our arrival. One of our same hots was in charge of taking us to the airport which let the other one alone to clean 6 bedrooms, 7 bathrooms, the kitchen and common areas. We couldn't use the jacuzzi for 2 days because the settings were wrong and the water did not warm up. Dinner and wine were good. We won't use Ski Amis again.

We stayed here as a couple, in a ‘mixed occupancy’ week with others. Had a great time; excellent company and fantastic skiing. The chalet itself is getting a bit tired and dated; it’s probably due a refurbishment before long but was still very clean, cosy, and is well located. The outdoor hot tub is also very welcome after a day on the slopes. The chalet hosts (Ash and Lewis) worked very hard; really committed and treated the chalet as if it were their own - they ensured that the chalet was always clean and tidy, cooked good hearty meals and delicious cakes, were chatty and friendly, and very responsive to anything raised…. both are an asset to Ski Amis, and it’s therefore Ash and Lewis that push the rating of the chalet up to a 5.

Excellent chalet hosts

Spent 2 weeks in the chalet. Chalet hosts (Lewis and ash) very friendly and accomadating. Went above and beyond throughout the stay. Food was the best I have had in 15 year of coming to courcheval. Loving and friendly atmosphere at all times. Cannot stress how good this chalet has been!!!! 5 stars all round.

We have been self catering for years and been on many trips, but this was definitely one of the best.  Ashleigh and Lewis done us all proud, the food was superb, and the highlight of the week was the home made profiteroles on the last day.  Cosy chalet well located. Beds were very comfortable and plenty of hot water, what more could you want, and a Hot Tub too!   Would not hesitate to revisit.

Fantastic Week at Chalet Morgane

Below is a copy of an email we sent to Ski Amis. Despite a promised response within 10 working days, we’ve heard nothing.

Be warned

“We recently had a family holiday over Christmas in Chalet Morgane in La Tania (21.12.18- 28.12.18)
 
It’s the fourteenth year I’ve been to La Tania & the third year in a row with been with Ski Amis, sadly, on this occasion, it didn’t meet with our expectations & I would be disappointed if it met with yours too.
 
On the opening page of your website you make the following claim;
 
“The best resorts of France .... the best catered chalets, hotels and apartments .... the best snow .... the best service .... the best holiday”
 
Of the five claims, 1 & 3 are out of your control. 2, 4 & 5 are however & they fell woefully below par this year.
 
We understand Eduard & Christine Van Zadelhoff have sold Ski Amis in the last two weeks & suspect that may have had a significant affect in ‘eyes on the ball’ in the run up to this season.

A list seemed the easiest way to convey our experience;
 
We ran out of red wine on Christmas Day for two days, despite our host raising it with the manager

We also ran out of baked beans (as above)

One of our group is gluten free (& can’t eat cheese). Sadly this wasn’t communicated to our host before our arrival, so it predominantly resulted in Jon having less on his plate. Odd considering it was subject to a supplement of £30. (Double, the last two years)

It also resulted in him being given cream cheese, brie, mozzarella & parmesan????

Food hygiene was dreadful. So much so that one of our group cleaned down the kitchen for fear of us getting food poising.

The rooms weren’t given a cursory clean & the bins overflowed. We helped ourselves to toilet rolls as they ran out. The latter item isn’t really a big thing however it gives you an indication of our experience...

On the last day the hot tub had been drained & re filled... as such it wasn’t warm enough to use on the last evening. Surely this should happen on transfer day?

The relief pair had trouble making the hob work as all of the jets were completely blocked. They had to entirely strip it down & clean it. Odd considering we visited you on only the second week of the season??

The whole chalet was filthy, particularly the kitchen floor.

Many of the lights didn’t work. (I’m an electrician so I can’t understand this one. Please invest in LED lamps too, compact fluorescent lamps are dreadful)

Our light over the door in our ensuite flickered & then fell down. I asked for a screwdriver to re fit it (it was Christmas Day after all!) which didn’t materialise. However, on Boxing Day, the light was re fitted, with one screw, & it still didn’t work??

It was our eldest daughter’s birthday on the 27th & our host kindly made her a cake. Sadly it was raw in the middle, which she found upsetting.

We had a couple & their child leave us on Boxing Day. (Planned but not communicated with you). It was then mentioned that, despite this, there may not be enough food for the relief hosts to join us for dinner??
 
Staff:
Our main host Lewis was very affable & keen to look after us. He had his sister (Emily) with him as his partner was away for a week, although only for the first 3 (?) days. He struggled with the Ski Amis ‘Bible’ but did his best.

Paul & Val, the relief couple then joined us with Lewis. They were very good. They cleaned out the disgusting fridge & cleaned the kitchen floor, look after them, they are keepers!

Sarah (resort manager), was fine. It’s a new role for her. As a manager of people ourselves, I would encourage her to check the work of people under her. Visit the rooms during the day & check everything is being done. Respond to requests for missing stock the same day.

On our last day, I think we had about 8 different people milling in & out of our chalet which wasn’t very nice...?
 
Having had a good experience with you historically, & thinking about our plans for next year, we enquired about the same chalet for next Christmas to be greeted with a 20% uplift. Irrespective of our experience this year, we can’t stretch to that. Having done some market research too, it appears to be above the going rate. I fear for your new business model of poor service & over market costs particularly at a time of economic uncertainty.

Disappointing visit

Chalet Morgane is teeming with the traditional features of a log cabin with exposed beams, open fireplace and old skis on the wall. The chalet sleeps up to 12 people in 6 en-suite bedrooms on two floors. You will enjoy an amazing catering service with home made style food, unlimited wine during meals, afternoon cakes and delicious full English breakfasts. Outside hot-tub, free WiFi, boot warmers.
