Facilities first class, rooms good, bar great; just what you want-informal and rustic.
Staff very good and catering excellent. Location is the best I have come across, close to the donut restaurant at 4500m where you look down on clouds. I went there 10 years ago which is the source of these comments. They do Xmas very well, not over the top and just right. 
Not too commercial or flashy such as the other four hotels in Hochgurgle. I had my 10 year old son with me who became ill- the staff were very helpful. I write this recommendation for the hotel as I want to go back there this year.

Family run hotel that just gets everything right

A otherwise lovely holiday got sidetracked by three factors:

- Very strong sewers smell rose from bathroom spreading to room itself, and we in several rounds had to ask for problems to be resolved. Staff made attempts in several rounds. It took time and energy.
-  Management was not forthcoming, pretending problem was new, never giving a proper apology. No reduction was given. We managed to get a room a floor up, but problems persisted, albeit to a level where we could cope by keeping bathroom windows open constantly, despite temperatures going down to -19C. We learned that the problem was known and relevant for one side of the hotel - so please make sure not to accept rooms 107, 108, 109 or equivalent on other floors.
- Pool too small to cope with demand. Lighting in rooms very basic. 

Good location, terrible smell

We were in a party of 12 when we went back to the Olymp last month. It is still an excellent hotel for skiers, with great food (particularly good breakfast), comfortable rooms, and an excellent spa (which has been upgraded since our last visit).

I only stayed one night but was very impressed by the welcome and size of the room. I was booked on half board and both dinner and breakfast were good with plenty of choice. The staff were very helpful and friendly and I would certainly come to stay again. The walk to the ski lift is not long from the ski room to the chair lift it can only take a few minutes. For value for money it was also good.

Good location and spacious rooms

We first visited this hotel over 14 years ago but haven’t visited for about eight years.

It’s basic friendly and cosy atmosphere are unchanged but the rooms spa area and restaurant have been significantly made over and improved. Our room was very spacious comfortable and had a great view up the valley to Obergurgl. The room was very hot - we turned the radiator off but it was still around 22 degrees and we slept with sheets no duvet and it was OK.

There is a humidifier in the room which is really useful as it is so dry at 2100m. 

The food and wine are great; the staff all friendly and attentive and acknowledge us by name. 

The hotel is well located and almost ski in ski out. The ski/boot room is good. 

The road to the hotel gets closed in heavy snow so access can be a problem. 

We’ll definitely return.
