Imagine this. Charming chalets nestled amongst snowy mountains. Sweeping blue runs and reds with jaw-dropping views. Sun-drenched mountain hut terraces and live music on the piste. Welcome to Adelboden! This is the place to ski if you enjoy more of a chilled vibe.
Cruise down perfectly groomed runs from Adelboden. Then head over to neighbouring Lenk to enjoy long reds through alpine forests. Worked up an appetite? Stop to grab some homemade apple strudel and a cream-topped Schümli Pflümli (aka coffee with schnapps) - it is indeed as good as it sounds!
The first lifts in Adelboden can open as early as November, but the main skiing season really gets going in December. January is the best month for frequent snowfalls, and also when the Ski World Cup arrives in town. Watch the pros as they hurtle down the Chuenisbärgli slalom course at lightning speeds!
Or, if you fancy something more relaxed, the slopes empty out at the tail end of the season which is perfect for making first tracks on dawn-fresh corduroy - take it from us, the early alarm call is always worth it.
Things to do in Adelboden
If you fancy a day off the slopes, there are plenty of other activities to try in Adelboden. One of our faves is the sledging park - with multiple blue, red and black runs, there’ll be smiles all around.
For something less energetic, cosy up in an icy dome and enjoy some delicious hot cheese - fondues and igloos aren’t two things you’d usually put together, but in Adelboden it’s a thing!
In the evenings, the atmosphere is super chilled. Enjoy a glass of Glühwein (aka mulled wine), and plan tomorrow’s winter wonderland adventures.
