Best time to ski in Steamboat

Steamboat's slopes open from November to April, but to catch the biggest dumps and best bluebird days, head here between January and March. Powder party! Steamboat is home to some of the best champagne snow in the US, so try to avoid the big local holidays if you don't want to queue for that super peachy powder. If you're a fan of apres-ski entertainment, Steamboat's event calendar is jam-packed throughout the winter. Highlights include the Cowboy Downhill skiing comp, Winter Carnival, and WinterWonderGrass Music Festival, to name a few.

Things to do in Steamboat

It's not all about skiing here in Steamboat. Take some time away from the slopes to explore the vast snowy backcountry on a snowmobile tour, take a spin on the outdoor ice rink, or shop til you drop along the main Plaza. The apres vibe at the foot of the slopes tends to be low-key. But if you're staying in downtown Steamboat Springs, there's plenty going on to get you in the party mood. Live music pumps out of the Steamboat Stage in the main square, and you won't go hungry with a vast choice of international restaurants, including Mexican, Italian, and All-American 50s dining. Yum!
