The most flexible ski holidays, made easy. Let's go.
The original alpine wonderland
This small mountain town in the heart of the Chamonix Valley is the launch pad for countless alpine adventures. Ever since Chamonix hosted the first-ever Winter Olympics in 1924, it cemented its place as one of the world’s best mountain destinations. It’s stayed at the top of its game because it makes outdoor pursuits so accessible to every one of every ability. A summer holiday in Chamonix reveals a world of scenic hiking, leafy bike rides, and stunning mountain panoramas. And that’s just for starters, you could try rock climbing, paragliding, rafting...the list goes on.
6 reasons we think you’ll love summer in Chamonix
Discover new heights
At 3,842 metres, Aiguille du Midi is the highest mountain in the valley accessible by cable car. Breath-taking views await, especially with the summer sun. You’ll also find a fact-filled information centre, restaurant, and a glass-floored terrace...if you’re brave enough.
A sea of ice
From Chamonix you can ride the scenic Montenvers railway train straight to the Mer de Glace (sea of ice) glacier. And when you get there, descend into the ice grotto – filled with sculptures and caves carved into the ice.
Hiking boots at the ready
The Chamonix Valley is home to over 600 kilometres of well-signposted routes, which are all excellently maintained. So, whether you’re on a half-day ramble in the foothills or an epic mountain trek, it’s easy to stay on track.
Hydrospeed
The Arve river flows all the way through the Chamonix valley. So, it’s actually pretty common to see thrill seekers riding the rapids with chunky floats in the centre of town. This is hydrospeeding, and its Chamonix’s favourite watersport.
Chamonix Amusement Park
When younger children have had enough of mountain panoramas and hiking, it can be useful to have a plan B. That’s where Chamonix Amusement Park comes in, packed with slides, trampolines, and the immensely fun Luge Alpine Coaster.
Adventure capital of Europe
Chamonix keeps the action coming all year round. In summer, swap skis for wheels and explore mountain bike trails, learn the ropes of rock climbing, soar on a tandem paraglide flight, get wet on a rafting trip, and much more...
