Great location for ski in and out very close to main bars and restaurants. But very quiet, the Food was great staff very helpful. Hotel has a sauna steam room also jacuzzi if you stay there it's free also a on site bar,. The only thing I would say is the rooms are small and very bland but they are clean and tidy

My husband and I enjoyed a fabulous stay in this gorgeous hotel right on the slopes. Very friendly and helpful staff. Charlotte our waitress was particularly  cheery in the evenings at our mealtimes, always had a smile on her face and nothing was too much trouble. 
The food was superb and plentiful. The breakfast was varied with lovely accompaniments such as raw honey straight from the frame and my husband really enjoyed the creamy porridge. The restaurant was very cosy and had a real alpine chalet feel to it. 
The bar and lounge area is cosy and welcoming with a terrace for the afternoon sun. Fleeces and blankets were available to stay snug and warm. 
The spa is not huge but space was always available and it was a very welcome end to the day. We used the hot tub, steam room and sauna daily. 
Our room was quite small as advertised but very clean and there was enough storage. The bathroom was warm and the shower was hot whenever we needed it. 
The blue run  back to the hotel from the top of the Plein Sud lift made for an easy return to the hotel after a day in the massive ski area. Although not quite ski out, it was only a very short walk to access the lift areas. . 
We would definitely return.

I m sorry for the inconvenience with the heating system, we will find a solution soon to improve it and give more comfort to our guests, for sure we can heat rooms more than 19°C but you re right the system is actually not very easy to understand.

We have just got back from after a week's stay at this hotel.

The location is perfect. It is a couple of minutes walk to the main bars and a supermarket. 

Most importantly, the ski to door capability was really good. You do have a minutes walk with your skis to get on the main slope when setting off,  but when you get back you ski straight on to a platform. You only have to carry your skis 5 metres in to the ski room.

As others have said the ski room is small but it's perfectly adequate. The lockers are good and the boot blowers give you dry sky boots for the morning. Everyone is given a locker that you set your own combination number to open. What more do you want?!

The rooms are a bit dated but comfortable. The bed was really good. The TV has BBC1 BBC2 and some Itv channels to watch whilst you relax.

The storage space was a bit limited. The bathroom was also quite small with only a half height shower screen which did mean you had to shower carefully or soak the room. No biggy . The bath was too small for us to use.

The view we had from room 205 was superb. There is a balcony too.

Breakfast - the choice is a bit limited but what they do have is good quality. The coffee and pastries were very good. No complaints!

Dinner - it was generally 5 courses. The soups were very good. The second course was a bit hit or miss. We aren't really fans of cold cabbage mouse but the main course was fantastic. There is a limited choice but it was high quality.
The cheese selection was very good, but the desserts were superb! For Val Thorens. the drinks prices were also very reasonable. 

We used the sauna and steam room a few times. It was very good. However, unusually they did allow children of all ages. Some parents appeared to have let their kids go alone which wasn't allowed. It did ruin the experience if you had some poorly behaved children in there. There should be a 14 year old minimum age in my opinion. 

The temperature of the rooms was an issue for us. They have put a central system in to control the heat in the rooms. When we arrived the room was freezing which did not set a good impression. Nobody tells you this but the thermostat on the wall doesn't allow you to increase the heat yourself. They are all set to 19 degrees and the heat goes off and comes on based on the central control. This is all about money saving for the hotel but not great for customer comfort. One night my sons room was freezing and the staff couldn't make it work until the next day. They were given a small heater instead. 

However, all of the staff were fantastic. They were so nice and obliging. They are without doubt the hotel's best asset.

Overall, we would recommend this hotel and would consider going back on day.

Absolutely fantastic experience at La Sherpa, Val Thorens!

La Sherpa is everything you want from a mountain hotel, restaurant and more. From the moment you step inside, you’re wrapped in a warm, authentic alpine atmosphere, rustic décor, crackling fires, and that unmistakable Savoyard charm that makes you feel instantly at home after a day on the slopes.
