Fantastic hotel in Arabba with easy access to a simply huge ski area. Owners and staff went out of their way to make our stay a real pleasure in this small family owned hotel. Plenty of options for breakfast. Note if you take the full board option then evening meals are at a co-owned hotel in the town centre. It's a 10-15 minute walk away  down a not too steep road, or there are footpath/step options depending on the weather. The road seemed a safer option to us in the winter.
Spotlessly clean and well-serviced rooms, lockable ski storage and a wellbeing centre in the basement featuring two saunas, a turkish bath, showers and a relaxation area.
The ski slopes are a very short walk away, arriving at the base of the Burz lift, the degree to which you can ski in/out is very snow-dependant. From here you can either head back to the main Arabba base via the Arabba Fly lift (this runs very near the hotel) or continue on the Sellaronda circuit in the anti-clockwise (green) direction. 
We travelled via a package company, I don't know how the 'independent' rates compare.

Lovely hotel with easy access to a world-class ski area

In all my thirty six years of enjoying winter sports holidays in some very lovely places, the Hotel Garni Serena is definitely the best I've ever had the pleasure of staying in. It's a smallish (seventeen rooms) family run hotel with a charming Tyrolean look and feel about it. Laura and all the staff were super friendly and helpful. The cleaning staff were also amazing. Everyday our room was made up in the time it took for us to have breakfast so when going back to our room to prep for our day on the slopes everything was fresh and there had been a beautiful scent sprayed in the air.

An excellent varied breakfast was laid out each day with fresh eggs cooked to ones liking upon request and a cereal bar that had just about every dried fruit, nut and seed you could think of.

The hotel has a lovely well-being centre with two saunas, a steam room and a relaxation area which I used every day to ease my aching muscles. Think it certainly helped me to get through the week.

The hotel is bit of a walk from the centre of town up a winding road but it didn't take long to find several short cuts to make the walk far more manageable. The plus side of the hotel's location is that you can cross the road and you're on the ski slope with only a short hop down to the chair lift which had virtually no queues all week. And at the end of the day we could arrive back at the same spot leaving just a walk across the road to be back at the hotel.

The town itself has bit of a sleepy village feel about it so I wouldn't recommend Arabba if you're looking for lively apres ski although there is Bar Peter which had a bit of life at times. Apres ski for my mate Richard and me was just drinks at the hotel bar which to be honest; at our age was quite sufficient.

One recommendation that I would make is to take an extra long phone charging lead because we could only find two mains sockets in our room and neither were near my bed. My three metre lead was just about long enough for this.

This is a hotel that I would love to stay in again and being that it's on the Sella Ronda I most definitely will.

Great Family Run Hotel

The Garni Serena is situated next to the Marmolada, between the Sella massif and the valley Fodoma, a few minutes distancefrom the center of Arabba, in a quiet and sunny area which suggests that maximum relaxation. The convenient location will allow you to reach the most famous ski slopes of the Dolomites in a few minutes, to walk and hike in the beautiful valleys, to climb amazing mountains. Who does not like to sweat can simply relax on the grass, close the eyes and be lulled by the chirping of birds and the sound of water streams. Arabba is the ideal place to rest and recharge your batteries. Hospitality, wellness and relaxation at your service.
