This Neilson ski holiday package exceeded our expectations. We were particularly lucky with our week of sun and snow, nevertheless I'd recommend this hotel if considering a trip to Sauze D'Oulx.   The rooms were comfortable - although a bit short on drawer space - and spotlessly clean. The food was excellent: great choices for breakfast and the evening meal was well-prepared and tasty. There was always a good quality vegetarian choice available. 

The staff were without exception friendly and efficient. Our Neilson rep, Charlotte, was well-informed, friendly and irrepressibly cheerful and the hotel manager, Charlie, was helpful and efficient.  There was lots of opportunities for free ski guiding and the 30 Euro trip to Montgenevre was good value.

The hotel location is 'ski in and ski out' but it is a bit tricky  - I'd say it is for confident intermediates. The alternative is to walk down a snowy 40 metre slope and trudge back up again to the hotel at the end of the day. That said, I know that the hotel offered transport to beginners in the morning to reach the ski lift. 

All in all - a good holiday experience.

Excellent staff made our stay memorable

This isn't a high-end hotel, but it is a very authentic, friendly and cosy chalet experience. For those not wanting the noise and bustle of apres and big resorts,the lcation in the small village of Jovenceaux, a mile or so lower than Sauze, is ideal.
The lounge and bar are exactly what you'd expect - very cosy with wood fittings, log fire and fur throws - absolutely gorgeous. Whilst the stairwells and corridors feel a bit youth hostel, the rooms are cosy and well appointed - everywhere is spotlessly clean. Only one plug socket, but 6 coat pegs and a large drying radiator in the bathroom - we had no problem hanging our kit. The bathroom is lovelyand looks brand new.
The biggest strength is the friendly staff and how hard they work to provide the service - special thanks to Charlotte, Charlie and Lizzie for making our stay so special. Unlike most reps, there was always at least one on hand at all times. Thanks also to the friendly Italian waiter whose name I didn't get. We found all the Italian people to be very friendly.
The hotel offers free guided experiences to get your snow-legs back. I'm not one for this kind of thing, but as an intermediate skier I found them really useful - our guide and instructor, Robbie, was very entertaining and knowledgable about the area.
The food was excellent, cooked freshly by the chefs. Instead of the usual buffet style, it's a set menu, with two options in each of the three courses - some wonderful Italian food. Breakfast is buffet style, with cereal, croissants, fresh orange juice, and three hot hot options like bacon, beans and hash browns. One very unique thing, is afternoon tea and cake served at 4.30 daily - very welcome when you get back from the slopes. There's no drink facilites in the room, but tea and coffee is available is the bar all evening and in the dining room after dinner. 
Dinner isn't served on Thursdays - the pizzeria in the village is highly recommended. Pizzas are €10 - €14 and dishes like lamb or venison are €20. It's a lovely, genuine place with very friendly staff, who speak some English. Have a wander through the narrow streets of the village, especially if the Christmas lights are still up.
You can only ski to the lift when there's snow, which seems to be rare so low down. We made the mistake of thinking we could walk - book Bruno's minibus for free, and be delivered right to the door.
The one negative I'd mention is that the walls are extremely thin - you can hear every word in the rooms and corridors, if your neighbours are loud. No one minds noise from the bar, but shouting in the room and repeatedly opening and shutting doors is inconsiderate. 
We'd love to return to the Edelweiss, but could staff include a reminder about noise in the rooms please?

Absolutely Perfect Alpine Location

Went with Neilson. Lovely people, very little snow so ski in /out was not possible but they drove a van down the road for us. Lovely cosy hotel with good food. bear in mind only one elec socket per bedroom and no draws for unpacked clothes, only a few hangers in wardrobe too. not much space for drying, including towels, bit of mould in the shower in our under roof bathroom. but nothing to get too worried about.
Would certainly go again, oh yes great food too.

All but perfect for the two of us.

We booked this holiday for 2 reasons ski in ski out which was not possible due to lack of snow. The access to the chair lift was via a steepish muddy field which on the first morning was frozen and my husband slipped and fell which is not ideal on the first morning. 
As the temperature rose it became increasingly muddy which was not ideal for the ski boots and locker room. After a discussion with Charlie & Frankie a bucket of water and brush we're left for us to clean our boots before entering the boot room - this was welcomed.
Secondly the jacuzzi was out of action which was disappointing 😞 so l had a massage which was wonderful for those tired muscles. I was then offered a free glass of processco which was taken with my evening meal due to the jacuzzi being out of action.
I must point out that there was a horrendous smell of food in our room (215) on upon arrival - we couldn't be moved so the room was sprayed and windows opened. This didn't improve greatly so the windows we're left open permanently.This was uncomfortable as it made my eyes water so may be a better extractor fan is needed in the kitchen.
On the first night the food was amazing and then never really lived up to that night. The Red house wine was very smooth which my husband enjoyed.
The staff we're all great and very helpful being friendly. 
The breakfast was great with lovely hot options.
Regarding ski hire l must say in 20 years of skiing l've never met a ruder man than Georgio in Gros Sports and we we're not alone in our treatment.
Neilson you need to reassess your ski equipment supplier aswell as being rude and unhelpful the equipment was dated dirty and quite frankly shoddy - they Don't deserve the business..
Overall we had a great week and would return as we enjoyed the ski area.

Lovely Chalet overall - couple of things to be aware of.

A warm, welcoming home from home on the edge of Sauze d'Oulx, our group of 23 had a wonderful week here over new year. The team led by Lorraine and Charlie (from Neilson ski) could not have been more friendly, helpful, experienced and knowledgable. The chalet has a lovely bar/lounge area with beautiful fire and views across the mountain, the dining room on the lower floor is full of character and again has lovely views. All of the rooms were comfortable and clean although I understand they vary in size/shape/outlook. The food was delicious, fantastic local cuisine and ingredients, and the restaurant was very accommodating of our large group comprising 5 families.  I think most of the other comments cover the points about location, about 5 -10 mins walk down to he very pretty village of Jovenceaux, and a steep 15 min climb up to Sauze which has a lovely selection of bars, cafes restaurants and shops. Non-skiers who made the most of the hotel's superb massage therapist, Teuta, plus yoga classes at the nearby Gros Wellness Centre.  
The skiers of all abilities enjoyed their skiing, including a day across an Montgenevre.
Back to the hotel - this really feels like a family run vibe - you get to know the whole team during the course of the week and they really do want to help make your holiday the best it can be. A real find, highly recommended.
