We loved our stay here. Had two double rooms and a single for our family. The place is very traditional and the staff were so helpful. Very clean. We loved the breakfasts. Incredible views. We took the rooms at the back and still had some views but the ones on the front had phenomenal views. Walk up the hill was 150/200m and was not a problem at all. I thought it was going to be a lot worse from reading other reviews! Location was incredible as just by the train station. And at bottom of Main Street of the town. A great relief to be so close when coming back from the slopes in ski boots. We loved our stay and would love to come back in spring summer for hiking.

We stayed here for two nights hiking the Via Alpina.  It would have been nicer if we had a room with a view - that’s the travel company’s fault. The service was subpar at the restaurant the first night - new staff maybe - and we mentioned it. Mysteriously there was no availability our second night for dinner, fully reserved - although when we got back from our (superior) restaurant that night it looked largely empty.  Small loss.  Not my fave but the location is central if you don’t mind an uphill hike.

OK option in Grindlewald.  Just don’t complain at the restaurant.

We had a lovely four nights at Hotel Aplina in June. We'd looked for a central family run hotel in Grindelwald and Hotel Alpina was perfect. We were welcomed by Thomas on arrival and over the course of the next four days met his daughter and son who both work in the hotel, and will become the fourth generation of the family to run the hotel soon. The room was very comfortable with an outstanding view of the snow topped Eiger. Breakfasts were good but the highlight were the outstanding dinners. We chose to eat in on our first night and after a delicious meal didn't need o look any further for evening meals. A lovely traditional hotel that I would recommend.

Early Summer Trip to Grindelwald

I enjoyed my visit. The lady at the front desk was very nice, the price was reasonable, and the food in the restaurant was delicious. I really appreciated the care the chef took in preparing the meals. I particularly enjoyed the Caesar salad, the curry and soup. I enjoyed the lighting in the restaurant as well.

The hotel itself is well kept and comfortable. The location is wonderful as well. I would very much stay there again

Quaint and affordable with a good restaurant

We spent 3 nights here in Feb 2025 and we definitely we’ll come back.
As a location, this hotel is very well placed close the railway station, to some shops and easy to be accessed also by car. 
Very nice and friendly staff. We had a room with a view in the back of the hotel, not to Eiger, but with a large balcony and a nice view also. 
Breakfast was very good and diverse and it was a pleasure to enjoy a coffee with a splendid view of the mountains in a sunny winter day.
We had also a dinner in the Edelweiss restaurant and again staff were very nice. The young man serving in the restaurant was very nice helping to choose a Swiss specific meal, then also his sister was very friendly chatting a little bit with us about tourists habits and the menu.
Food was good and well presented and service quite quick.
In general I noticed that all the staff was paying attention to the details in the restaurant.
Cleanliness was very good everywhere. 
The only thing that I would improve, at least in the room we had, it is the bathroom door. I know it is not easy because of the small space, but you have no intimacy when another person is in the room.
