This is a cozy no-frills family-run hotell that makes for a pleasant stay in the Trysil area. The historic building has been renovated keeping the charm of older times while providing basic modern amenities. Quiet, low-key but everything necessary to serve as a base for enjoying the local nature, whether Alpine skiing on Trysil Mountain, seemingly endless km/miles of wonderful and well-prepared cross-country/Nordic skiing (right outside the door),  or hiking/biking during the Summer or Fall. A local food store is very close by. The villiage of Østby is tiny and quiet. This is not a place for late-night partying. The drive to Trysil Mountain is about 15-20 minutes. Other mountains and skiing areas, also in neighboring Sweden, are in easy reach. The bed was very comfortable and there was plenty of hot water and heat. Breakfast was basic Norwegian. The restaurant offers limited but fine-quality home-cooked dishes.  Although we were not disturbed by other guests, the walls are thin. For light-sleepers, it might be worth having ear-plugs on hand - just in case. (The same goes for stays at most hotels!)

Cozy family-run hotel near Trysil

Oslo, Eastern Norway

Sitting amongst miles of cross-country trails this three star hotel is ideally placed between Sweden and Norway’s great winter sports resorts. The bedrooms are spacious, modern and very Nordic in style. There is a delicious buffet breakfast to enjoy each morning and excellent food within the hotel restaurant. In the evenings you can relax in the comfort of the lovely Nordic style bar. With Scandinavian Mountains Airport (Sälen) Trysil just 20 minutes away and about 2 hours drive from Oslo Airport Gardermoen, the hotel is easily accessed both from Norway and abroad.
