Amazing

We had a fantastic stay at this ski hotel. The location is perfect — just a short walk to the slopes, which made skiing so easy and stress-free. It worked brilliantly for both families and couples, with a relaxed but welcoming atmosphere. A special thank you to the staff for accommodating a later check-out to suit our flight times — such a thoughtful touch that made our last day so much easier. We’d happily return and highly recommend it.

Asih,  who works at the reception, is very kind, helpful, and a truly wonderful person.
Alies, the massage therapist, is outstanding. The facial massage was the best I have ever had — strong, incredibly effective, and truly magical. Alies has the hands of an angel.

Our stay at Places Valamar Obertauern was approximately our sixth visit in the past three years, which speaks volumes about how much we have loved this hotel so far. Unfortunately, this was also our worst stay to date, both in terms of accommodation, food quality, and the overall attitude toward guests.

Already upon arrival we experienced our first disappointment – the receptionist asked whether we had stayed at the hotel before, even though such information should be clearly visible in the system and noted in the reservation. After so many visits, we expected at least basic recognition of loyal guests, not a question that gave the impression we were there for the first time and that our loyalty is neither tracked nor appreciated.

Before arrival, I explicitly requested a larger room, given that we are regular guests and that the stay was for my husband’s birthday. Although the room was ready upon arrival, we were given the smallest and most impractical room in the hotel – without a work desk and without a bedside table for our child. The kettle and cups were placed on top of the mini fridge, which at the same time served as a “bedside table” next to the extra bed for our daughter.

The bathroom was so small that it was barely possible for an adult to use the shower properly (my husband is 190 cm tall and weighs 95 kg). Despite my prior request and our years of loyalty, we had the clear feeling of being completely overlooked.

After we complained, the room was changed to the one we had originally booked, but with an extremely inappropriate comment from reception stating that we had “booked the smallest and cheapest room,” as if long-term loyalty and the context of the stay were completely irrelevant. A very unpleasant experience.

The food, which had previously been one of the hotel’s strong points, dropped this year to a level of 5/10. Monotonous, tasteless, and often unseasoned. During the Christmas stay, there was absolutely no sense of effort or festive atmosphere – dinner was boring and lacked any special touch. The hot buffet offered dishes every evening, half of which were inedible.

The most disappointing and emotionally difficult part of the stay was the children’s gift-giving event. We were not informed at all that parents were supposed to bring their own gift to be handed out by Santa Claus. Our child (7 years old) watched other children being called by name and receiving personal, thoughtful gifts, while she received an XL T-shirt and baby puzzles. As a parent, this was extremely painful to witness. After complaining, we received an apology and a bottle of children’s sparkling drink, which unfortunately cannot undo the feeling of exclusion and sadness experienced by a child.

At check-out, there was yet another disappointment – the guests in front of us received a 10% discount due to a technical issue and relocation, while I, after asking about compensation, was told that “nothing is written in the reservation notes.”

This experience has honestly made us question whether it still makes sense to choose a hotel to which we have been loyal for years. The standard has clearly declined, and the feeling that long-term guests are valued was completely absent.
