Christmas Week 2025

After not having stayed at the hotel for a long time, we intended to invite our family at my expense to celebrate our 60th birthdays and our 40th wedding anniversary.
We requested 4 rooms, and my sister also came and had reserved 2 rooms. We received what was, so to speak, a special rate. Unfortunately, upon arrival it became apparent that these were the least good or “cheap” rooms we were given for this rate.
Upon arrival at the hotel, I spent at least an hour because they were incompetent when it came to allocating the rooms between my sister and me. Everything was stated on the reservation confirmation, but I had to present it myself several times because they made no effort to actually consult it.
Even before arrival it was already clear that there were problems at the reception/management, as emails were answered late or not at all.

**Our own room:**
Bathroom: the bathtub was completely covered with orange and black mold, including on the shower head. Showering (in the small bathroom) is not possible without hitting your head on the slanted ceiling.
The heating barely works and is totally dirty with orange mold (or rust).
We received an “upgrade” to an old junior suite. It also smelled old. At reception we were told that our luggage would be taken to the other room. Unfortunately, this was not done and we had to do everything ourselves.
In the new room there was still mold around the bathroom, only slightly less. The shower head still had mold on it, even more than before.

**Toilet:**
The door opens inward and hits the toilet paper holder. The easiest way to close the door is therefore while sitting on the toilet. Then you see that you have put your fingers on a door that is covered with drops of feces (yes, you read that correctly).

Immediately went to reception to ask for this to be cleaned. After returning to the room a few hours later, nothing had been done. Went to reception again. Still nothing after more hours. We saw the cleaning lady when we went to dinner and asked her to do it. When we returned, nothing had been done. Then we went to reception again and brought someone with us. He was horrified, called a cleaning lady and stayed while it was cleaned. Conclusion: when we came back, 4 drops were still left.

**Breakfast:**
Not at a 5-star level, not always replenished quickly, and the cheese is sweating and unappetizing as a result.

**Dinner:**
Also not at a 5-star level, and certainly not for the Christmas holidays. Because of this we ate elsewhere (better) twice.

**Checkout:**
The bill at checkout took 2 hours. The invoice was then fabricated to arrive at the amount stated on the reservation confirmation. Five items: Accommodation HP, Lodging tax, City tax, overnight stay levy, and lodging. It is inexplicable to me how one can produce such an invoice, and logically that it takes 2 hours.
The bill was still not correct. Twice we did not eat at the hotel (because we did not like it), and for that only CHF 50 per person is deducted (where the menu price is shown as double). This was not deducted. A 10% discount is given on massages; this was also not deducted.
Eventually I was able to pay everything correctly as per the reservation confirmation. During the drive home, after a few hours, I received a phone call saying that I had not paid for all the rooms. I had paid my invoice and my sister had paid hers, but the reception apparently did not know this and wanted to charge me again for my sister’s rooms. All invoices were signed as paid. When I arrived home, I saw that an additional amount had been deducted from my card without my knowledge and without any information about it. Simply fraud. Instead of contacting my sister, no effort was made and the amount was taken from my card (which I had provided only as a “guarantee”). To this day, after several emails, this has not been refunded.
So, as stated at the beginning: a totally incompetent and extremely rude reception. Organization in the hotel is generally flawed. The hotel is no longer run by the owners, but where is the management? Never seen. They also do not introduce themselves as in well-managed hotels.

In summary, the hotel is far from deserving 5 stars. It used to be lovely when it was a 4-star hotel, but now, in my view, it is barely a 3-star hotel. The hotel now lives off Asian tour groups, and the soul is gone.

This hotel is not a 5* establishment.  We paid quite a heafty price for a one week stay over the Christmas period 20th - 27th December.  The  staff were surly, inefficient and quite unfriendly - especially the reception staff.  The food was awful with a choice of only two main meals, meat or vegetarian, and the Christmas Ever Gala dinner was dreadful.  
I have read previous reviews on this hotel and can only say I am baffled as to why it was so horrible as many have had good experiences but unfortunately not us.
