As a family of 19, we booked the Snowmads  Diana Ross Chalet for the February half term—exclusivity was promised, or so we thought. From the outset, the experience was marred by an outdated minibus that arrived to collect us from the airport. It lacked both sufficient seating and adequate luggage space, forcing some family members to hold their own bags throughout a three-hour journey that could have been much shorter in a modern coach.

While the welcome reception—with its hot wine, cake, and clearly labelled room assignments—was a thoughtful touch, and the excellent local stew at our initial meal was enjoyable, these positives quickly faded. Given the chalet’s 20-minute walk from the gondola base and the long queues for the gondola, we expected organized private shuttles or taxi services. Unfortunately, this service was not provided. Our host, Luben, was unhelpful when we raised the issue; his dismissive attitude and unconvincing excuses about road closures, lateness, and vague “mafia” issues left us no choice but to arrange our own transport—a stark contrast to other chalet owners who facilitated daily shuttles.

Moreover, for a rental costing over £8,000, exclusivity was a given. Instead, neighbouring guests had access to the chalet, leading to disruptive behaviour. On our first night, we were disturbed by noisy neighbours who were drinking and making excessive noise well into the evening, which was especially challenging for our young children and exhausted family members. Despite our polite requests for quiet, the situation remained unresolved.

Another disappointment was the shared hot tub. It was left uncovered on two separate occasions, rendering it unusable for two full days, and once again, Luben’s response was minimal.

Summary

Pros:
• Good price.
• Excellent job by the cleaner.
• Comfortable beds.
• Breakfast was acceptable.

Cons:
• Limited organisation and assistance.
• Staff appeared to have their own agenda.
• Difficult access to the slopes.
• Inconsistent evening meals.
• Shared facilities despite promises of exclusivity.
• Persistent barking dogs that disrupted our sleep.
• Inadequate changing of towels and sheets.

Overall, the Diana Ross Chalet might serve as a reasonable base for a shared hostel or student accommodation, but it falls short for a large family expecting dedicated, friendly local service.

Plesant, but not as expected.

We stayed for a week as a family of 4 sharing Chalet Diana Ross with other guests. 

The organisation was fab and everything went smoothly, great to have someone organising passes, board hire and so forth it really made life easy! We also asked Luben to arrange for in house massages, which were fab and skidoo driving which was a high light  of the trip. 

Having done self catering and catered chalets in Bansko before I have to say Chalet Diana Ross is typically Bulgarian. A little bit tired and very basic. 
Meals were ok, for us 6/10 so eating out every other night worked well. Food is basic and Bulgarian 2 courses and breakfast choices were be very random. 

Drawbacks were the location - it really isn’t ideal for walking into town (a good 15/20 mins) and certainly not possible with ski equipment in tow. Minibus times are rigid so we ended up getting taxis everyday which added additional £250 to our expenses. 

There are really only 2 evening chill out areas and if they are being taken up by other guests you have no choice but to sit at the uncomfortable dinning tables. 

Dogs barking constantly? - yes it kept many of us awake. 

Shared use of the space and hot tub, as you share dining and outside areas with another chalet it made planning more important. We therefore decided the only way to get the hot tub was to pay for taxis to came back early each day, and nab the hot tub before everyone else descended. 

Honestly bar didn’t have soft drinks which was a nuisance as we had to make sure we didn’t run out each day as it was such a trek to get back into town for tonic for the gin!

Typically Bulgarian, could be improved.

What a fantastic experience! We stayed at Chalet Chico in an enormous room with balcony. Excellent breakfast and dinners, terrific staff. The people we dealt with, from the chalet staff to the ski shop guys and our ski instructor were as helpful and friendly as it's possible to be. They really went out of their way to make everything happen for us.

Highly recommended. We will definitely be back!

Excellent trip, we were a group of 18 (12 beginners) and they organised everything so smoothly from the ski hire at the chalet to great food and organising things to do afterwards such as geo thermal pools. 

Plenty of room and space for everyone, great facilities including sauna, jacuzzi and games room. Would highly recommend if you want great value and convenience.

We had the best week ever celebrating my 30th with friends! We hired out both Chalets in Bansko, and the whole week was a dream. Thanks to the efforts of the very attentive staff, organising such a big group was made very easy.

Ewan and co. sorted all our Ski Hire/Passes; meals in and out of the accommodation; a trip to the spa; and transport every day.

Great value for money (for skiing!)! Would 100% recommend.

Big Group (30) Chalet Takeover - Success!

Chalet Diana-Ross is conveniently perched between Bansko’s historic old town and the lively new quarter, placing you at a 10-minute stroll from taverns, bars and shops. Our free shuttle service runs morning and evening, so the gondola is just minutes away. The chalet sleeps up to 25, spread over 5 floors and boasts private en-suite bathrooms, comfortable beds and balconies with mountain views. It's full of character; a large communal area with a homely log fire, as well a separate cosy lounge featuring retro games consoles and a sauna. WiFi throughout too. Outdoors you’ll find table tennis and a large hot tub. Chalet Supreme sits within the private grounds of its bigger sister Chalet Diana-Ross. It's perfect for families and smaller groups of friends. Spread over two floors, this chalet can comfortably sleep up to 10 between 4 bedrooms, all en-suite. With its spacious dining room downstairs and a separate comfortable upstairs lounge, the chalet is cosy, with a couple of balconies too.
