It is a garni hotel, threrefore you have to go out for a dinner. Spa area is small but nice. 
Rooms are bright and clean. 
The greatest value of this hotel is the location- next to the cable car.
There is also a garage parking.

The Almhof is well located next to one of Ischgl's 3 gondola stations, close to the centre, but does not suffer from the noise and rowdiness of Ischgl's main street.  Complimentary car parking is available in the hotel's underground car park.  

Although the hotel is essentially B&B, pizzas and toasted sandwiches are served in the bar.  (This came in handy on our late arrival after being stuck in traffic for 5 hours between Munich and Ischgl). The breakfast buffet is varied and plentiful, and the staff very friendly and helpful. As is common in Ishgl, the hotel has lift passes waiting for guests on arrival, so there is no need to queue at the ticket office.

The rooms are clean and spacious, though we were not the only guests to find the rooms too warm to sleep comfortably. Open the window and it very rapidly goes the other way!

One disappointment was that the hotel advertises a short cut into the queue for the adjacent gondola. This is via a set of steps behind the hotel and a gate into the queue near the front. The lift company has other ideas however and when queues are long, they come round and close the gate, consigning Almhof guests to the long early morning queues which mar Ischgl's otherwise superb skiing.    

In summary though, the Almhof offers very clean, friendly and efficient service, and if we return to Ischgl, Almhof is likely to be our first choice.

We drove to Ischgl from UK for a week's skiing and had a great trip. The town is pretty, the ski area large and the snow preparation faultless. This is a great ski destination. We will be returning and almost certainly to the same hotel.
The Sporthotel Almhof itself is in a great position for the main lift, you just walk around the back of the hotel, climb a dozen steps and then you are in the actual lift queue (and if the queue is long then you actually join it half way along and save yourself a lot of time).
Our accommodation was a delux room booked direct with the hotel, as I'd seen a previous review that suggested the standard rooms booked through travel agents were a little on the cosy side. Our room was huge, with comfortable beds, a fridge, a whirlpool bath, sofa and chairs, etc. The room price was very reasonable and also included a discounted 6 day ski pass as a bonus.
The hotel staff were very polite and helpful and even laid out the (buffet) breakfast early on the day we left, as we had a very early start. There was no evening dining facility at the hotel so the choice was to either eat out in one of the many other hotel restaurants nearby or visit the Spar supermarket at the north end of town for provisions.
The hotel does have a small sauna and steam room area which was also nice to use after returning from skiing - some days this got a little busy though as the rest area only had seating for 8. It also has complementary underground parking which was very much appreciated by us given that temperatures dropped to a freakishly low -25C on one day. Note: the underground parking uses a very clever stacking system - so if you have a tallish car then do not park on the top layer as you may find your car gets crushed against the ceiling when an owner goes to retrieve the car beneath yours!
One last thing to mention is that Ischgl, like Mayrhofen, appears to have become a favoured haunt for nouveau riche Russians, so queue etiquette in the mountain and also in the town isn't quite up to the impeccable standards that you typically get in an Austrian or Swiss dominated resort. It's by no means horrific, it just caught us a bit by surprise.
To summarise, a great hotel in a great resort.

Just stayed 4 nights at the Almhof and it was perfect for postion to the lift right next door, the staff were all very helpful and nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast we could not fault with everything you need.Garage car parking which was good with the cold temps.

This hotel is perfectly located in Ischgl and it is very (!) close to the Silvrettabahn, the big gondola, which brings you up to the centre of all slopes. Almhof allows you to access the queue of the gondola in the middle rather at the end as this is the place where you come out of the hotel. 
Even if the hotel is on a 'bigger' street, it is very quiet. The hotel is family run and you can feel this. All owners and all staff are very friendly, very helpful and fully dedicated to make it a fantastic stay for you. 

We had a room with a sitting area, balcony, old style 'Kachelofen', which is perfect to keep your ski clothes like gloves, socks, .... scarfs warm) and makes the room feel cosy. 
The bathroom has a bath with a 'Whirlpool', loud speakers, hairdryer, .... and the bonus is that the toilet is an extra room. Two cupboards, fridge, TV .... everything you need. 
The room was in perfect quality, warm (may be a bit too warm) and very good size. 

In the basement there is a sauna with two different sauna's and a steam room and beds to relax as well as refreshments. 

Breakfast has everything you can imagine (except no English traditional breakfast which I personally do not miss) with variety of eggs, bread and roles, a huge variety of sausage and cheese, yoghurts, cerials, ..... tea, coffee, several juices and fruits. 

Perfect easy access ski room with heating for the boots. 
Wireless is available (but you might need to pay for it).

There are two area of improvements for me: 
I have missed the possibility to get a massage in house. I am used in other ski areas and hotels that a person comes on request (and extra payment) to the hotel to give you a sport massage to get ready for the next day. 
The other improvement would be to reduce the smoke in the bar area. If you live in England where no hotel or bar has any smoking areas anymore, you are not used to it and it is not very nice. 

It might be interesting to know: The hotel has no own restaurant or opportunity to have dinner. We like this. I prefer to have a change of scene every evening and there are sooo many restaurants and pizzerias available and in close distance (1 minute to 7 minutes).
