...but it was great!!!!!! A nice selection of diverse plates, warm atmosphere and just right in the middle of this small town. It was a comfortable walk from Switzerland across a beautiful, historical wooden bridge on Rhein.

I was here only for a dinner...

A lovely little town within walking distance via an old wooden bridge to Switzerland stein. Stopped at this restaurant for mid day food and whilst I had the schnitzel the others had salad all fresh and hearty food. Chips were a bit warm however this did not stop me enjoying my meal. With a couple of drinks the bill was 43.50 for three of us to eat and our thoughts of getting an ice cream went out of the window as we were to full.

My review is about the restaurant only, we did not stay the night. A really good friend of ours lives close by and we often meet him for dinner at the Black Whale. Located in a historic building on the cobbled town square right across the facade of the lovely church, the Black Whale is fairly narrow, the cobbled town square but has much depth in the way of medieval town buildings. The atmosphere on the first floor boasts a seafaring theme, enhanced by the natural wood used for most of the furnishings. The menu is quite extensive, mostly featuring traditional German dishes, including some seafood, but also 'fitness' options, i.e. plates of meat and salad. The service is friendly and cheerful as well as prompt, and the food is very good, prizes were reasonable.
One small issue if you have mobility issues: the restrooms are on the second floor.

This was my first visit to Bad Sackingen on business and had to take the recommendations of my colleagues.

I must say that t his hotel is very clean and the staff extremely friendly.  The menu is varied and portions large.  I thought that the prices were reasonable compared with the UK but I have not had tome to compare these with other establishments in town.  The only drawback is that you cannot charge meals or drinks to your room as they appear to be two separate operations.

As the hotel is directly opposite a large church, the bells can be a little annoying every fifteen minutes from 7.00am until 11.00pm.

Unfortunately I visited at one of the hottest times of the year and with no air conditioning the room was very uncomfortable at night

However, unless someone recommends something better then I will have no hesitation in booking again
