Despite its quaint and charming facade, Gerlos delivers fun by the bucket load. Set at the heart of Austria's Zillertal Arena, over 140km of epic descents await. Red runs dominate, but steely blacks from the top of Konigsleitenspitze will test your nerves. And pro lines at the snow park bring in some impressive air time. Little rippers can mess about in a dedicated kids' area. And gentle blues will keep newbie skiers smiling for days. Still got some energy after all of that? The apres scene is turbocharged too!

Best time to ski in Gerlos

With plenty of high-altitude runs, the Zillertal Arena is as snow sure as they come. And with an army of snow cannons across the resort, the powder is always kept topped up. That said, dumps are more frequent in January and February if you want to increase your chances of fresh powder - perfect timing for half term! The party atmosphere during Christmas, New Year and Easter is legendary. But visit outside of the holidays if you want to avoid the crowds.

Things to do in Gerlos

Gerlos likes to party! Grab a pint of the local brew - Zillertal Bier - at a piste-side mountain hut and soak up some warm sunshine after a rad day on the hill. Hungry? Head into town for wood-fired pizza, and get the party started with a jagerbomb (or three). Upbeat live music sets the mood and you'll be dancing away all night. Away from the bars, families will have loads of fun whizzing down the 7km floodlit sledging run and snow tubing at nearby Hainzenberg.
