Kirchberg gives you access to Austria’s world-class KitzSki skiing area without the eye-watering prices of its glamorous neighbour, Kitzbühel. Renowned for the infamous Hahnenkamm downhill run, there are heaps of challenging runs in the area, and freeride daredevils can explore extensive backcountry powder. But it’s not just about gnarly pistes here. With streams of cruisey blues and reds, it’s an intermediate skier’s dream. And if you have beginners or kids in the gang, the gentle nursery slopes will get them ploughing down the mountain in no time.

Best time to ski in Kirchberg
Don’t be put off by Kirchberg’s moderate altitude; the excellent snow-making coverage keeps the pistes primed and running fast all season. Happy days! Powderhounds will love the fresh snow in January, and with the famous Hahnenkamm Race on the cards, you can watch the pros take on Kitzbühel’s daring slalom course. Sip a glass of Glühwein at the Christmas markets in December, or top up the tan with sunny bluebird days in March. Insider tip - Kirchberg is a much quieter alternative to busy Kitzbühel all season.

With a lively apres ski scene, you’ll be sinking an ice-cold Stiegl on a sun terrace and lining up shots of schnapps before you’ve even made it back to Kirchberg. Prost! Dance in your ski boots and party till the early hours at local late-night bars and nightclubs. Fancy a taste of the glitz and glamour of Kitzbühel? It’s just a quick taxi ride away!
