Welcome to La Clusaz Ski Resort

Just 50km transfer from Geneva, La Clusaz is an ideal destination if you’ve only got a few days or you just can’t wait to get on the slopes. Situated in the Aravis mountains it’s a traditional and charming resort that offers skiers and boarders a range of slopes from 1,100m to 2,600m. With a number of greens and blues it’s ideal for beginner and intermediate skiers but there are eight black runs and plenty of off-piste for powder fiends and freeride heroes – La Clusaz is where YouTube star Candide Thovex likes to shred. Skiing here is picturesque with epic views of Mont Blanc. The après meanwhile is mostly chilled – think restaurants rather than rowdy bars.

Best time to ski in La Clusaz

The season runs from mid December until mid April so choosing the best time to go comes down to whether you want more of a wintery and festive vibe or you want those longer days with a bit of sunshine. The good news is that La Clusaz mostly has a grassy base, and that means it’s skiable with as little as 30cm of snow – meaning it’s a safe option early season. (When it’s rocky, you need more snow). With slopes going up to 2,600m, that’s high enough to ensure good coverage as the season progresses but snow cannons also cover 75% of the resort.

Things to do in La Clusaz

The days when resorts just catered for skiers are happily long-gone, and La Clusaz is one of those towns where you could have a blast and never step foot on a pair of skis. Alternative ways of descending the mountain include in the air, flying in a tandem paraglider, tobogganing and by various types of snow scooters and skates. La Clusaz is also home to an outdoor pool with views of the mountains that’s open all winter. There’s also an ice rink, ice bumper cars, snowshoe hiking, ski joering and dog-sledding – plenty to build up an appetite. Fortunately, La Clusaz has a number of great restaurants serving everything from Savoyard specialities to pizza to take care of that.
