Les Menuires is a resort that gives access to the massive ski area of Les Trois Vallées but at a price that’s just a bit more affordable. Purpose built in the 1960s, it’s known for its modernist architecture – but that also means it’s super practical for skiing in and out of your hotel. Most of the local slopes are easy groomers and there’s now a green slope with safety nets reserved for absolute beginners to ensure their safety and peace of mind. Meanwhile, for the more adventurous, there’s 600km of the world’s largest ski area to explore.

Best time to ski in Les Menuires

The ski season runs from early December through to the end of April. The region offers some of the highest skiing in the Alps with slopes up to 3,230m. So whether you come early season in December or late season in April, there will always be a good covering of snow. Be aware there can be pinch points on some lift queues in peak periods such as New Year or February half term, but the area is so large, even big crowds are soon spread out, leaving you free to enjoy the slopes.

Things to do in Les Menuires

Les Menuires is one of those resorts that have really gone the extra mile in developing alternative activities. Indoors there’s squash, swimming (speedos only), fitness classes, basketball, table-tennis and a cinema. On the mountain one can go glamping in an alpine tent, have dinner in an alpine hut, meet a traditional farmer, go hiking but if that’s too sedate, there’s ski-touring, paragliding, a rail luge and tobogganing. Relax afterwards with a massage at a spa in town. As far as après goes, Les Menuires is considered a bit quieter than its more raucous neighbours but there’s still an abundance of pubs, cocktail bars and discos to party the night away.
