Last time we stayed here, our visit was for a few days in a North facing room.  On that trip, we saw a south facing room with balcony, overlooking the small church and thought if ever we stayed here again, our choice would be to pay more this type of room.  

The owner was friendly and polite and we enjoyed the good choice at breakfast also (breakfast is charged extra).  

On the current visit, we were staying for 7 nights and booked through a well-known 'hotel booking website'.  We confirmed a room, a south facing twin with balcony.  The cancellation policy was 100% for cancellation or no show.  Upon arrival, we got to our south facing room to find there was no balcony.  I immediately went back to the front desk to say we had been confirmed a room with a balcony. We were told that our reservation had always been for this room, and we could not be allocated anything with a balcony as those rooms were fully booked.   I had a print out of our booking confirmation showing a balcony had been confirmed but the gentleman was not interested to look at it.  

We were very happy with the other facilities in the room, a nice modern bathroom/shower and good storage space was much appreciated too.  However, a balcony is much valued by us on our ski holiday, as it acts like a fridge for storing food / drinks, the glazed balcony door brings much light in to the room and also on a sunny day it can be nice to sit out and watch the world go by.  Our allocated room was on the third floor (where there are no south facing rooms with a balcony).  All the south facing rooms on first and second floor seem to have a balcony.  

It may be people who book directly get the best rooms, I do not know.  But it may be wisest to book directly with the hotel in order to clarify the deal on offer.

I now intend to take up a complaint with the hotel booking website, as the room provided was not as they promised and it did have an impact on our enjoyment. I would say this was a 'breach of contract', especially as the room type had been changed (yet the booking conditions were that we cannot change the reservation without 1a total loss of the full amount paid).  The natural light in the room given, came from one window about three feet x three feet, about five feet from the floor.  Anyone shorter than us, may need to stand on a chair to look outside.

Other than this problem, we very much like the hotel, the ski storage room, the  breakfasts, the very central position in town opposite the ski lifts, close to the shops etc.

Perfect position, very nice small hotel though perhaps best to book directly.

Grim. Filthy room, and the service we like something out of Faulty Towers. These proprietors should not be on the service industry. I wasn't allowed to carry my skiboots from the stairs to the front door (about two metres). Had to go all the way round the building.  My friend needed more toilet paper and was told off. When he got one off the service trolley, it was removed the next day. At the times I asked for a drop of milk on one day, a mug on another. It was met with bad tempered argument from the proprietress. 
The room was filthy and the cupboard was a three tiered IKEA box.
Stay away.
