Found this on trip advisor and it looked idea so booked it online for a little ski trip with my 13 year old son.  Staff were very friendly and spoke good English. Location is ideal. It’s right next to the gondolas. About 8min walk into the village for lots of restaurants, bars, chemist and supermarket. Room was just what went needed. Beds comfy. Clean towel each day. Shower sufficient and enough space for the two of us. Would have liked tea/coffee facilities in the room but didn’t bother us that much. I bought some drinks at the shop and put them on the balcony to keep cold. There is a bar and snack bar that’s open until 8:30 also. We played table football a couple of times in the bar. Breakfast was sufficient. Pastry and breads, fruit, yoghurt and cereal. Just what we needed. Booked ski hire from parot sports which is under the hotel and offer a discount for hotel guests. They also keep our equipment overnight which meant warm and dry boots each day. Would defo book here again if we come back to this ski area.

We had a brilliant stay at Le Rookie Mountain Hotel. The staff are wonderfully helpful, the bedrooms cosy and clean, great selection for breakfast and a fab seating area with fireplace. Positioned right next to two bubble lifts, Rosay and Joyère, and next door to Le Paret Sports for ski hire (discount for guests from Le Rookie Mountain). They have a relaxing outdoor bar area where you can chill at the end of the day with a Vin Chaud and watch the sun set over the mountains. It's a short walk into the centre of town where you'll find the bars and restaurants. Brush up on your basic French, it's useful for reading the menus, and appreciated by the locals. The Le Grand-Bornand ski area is perfect for a long weekend break.

Brilliant long weekend break with the family.

The hotel occupies the prime location at the resort, being a few yards from the gondolas up onto the ski area and this influenced us in booking this hotel as we ere only at the resort for a few days.
The pluses for this hotel are ;
Location, friendliness of staff, clean, has a boot room*
The minus are;
property is 'tired' and could benefit from a refresh and bathroom update, breakfast is lacking (no cold meats or cheese) and left uncovered. 
*The boot room is very small and there are no facilities to put on your ski boots inside. There was a permanent smell of cooking fat in the building which was very off putting.
The hotel is ok for a few days stay.

Basic and functional, in a prime location for access to the slopes

We absolute loved our stay at Le Rookie Mountain. The location is perfect to make everything as easy as possible as it is at the foot of the gondola, there is a ski hire shop (Le Paret Sports) next door, and it is only a 5-10 min walk into the town. The hotel is very quirky, we loved the character of it (despite other reviews saying it is dated), it’s just as you’d expect a mountain retreat to be. There is a cosy lounge to relax in, during the evening and a small games room with table football. The continental breakfast was very nice, well stocked and well presented. The staff are all very helpful and pleasant, I emailed them with quite a few questions prior to our stay and every time I received a prompt and helpful response, thank you Madeline! There is designated free parking for hotel residents and also use of a ski locker for €10 per stay, however if you use the ski shop next door you get use of a free locker and it’s also on ground level and a little bit closer to the gondola. We really hope to return sometime soon, Le Rookie Mountain is a little hidden gem.
