Big ski area
Welcome to Le Grand-Bornand Ski Resort
Drop the kids off for lessons on wide gentle bunny slopes at Plateau du Rosay before cruising down smile-inducing reds and blues in the spectacular French Alps. Nestled between Mont Blanc and Lake Annecy, Le Grand-Bornand is a charming Savoyard farming village in the Aravis skiing region. But it’s not all quaint and dainty! Teenagers will love practising tricks over the Big Air Bag at the Grand-Bo snow park. And for seasoned skiers, the ski touring scene is on point. Book a guide to head off the beaten track - the backcountry mountain vistas are phenomenal!
With altitudes of over 2000 metres, and a sizable band of snow cannons covering the main runs, Le Grand-Bornand is pretty reliable for snow. That said, the best dumps usually fall in February and March. Short of time? With quick and easy access from Geneva airport, Le Grand-Bornand is spot on for a long weekend break. And look out for dates of the French Biathlon World Cup in December. Top tip - make the most of longer days with sunset ski sessions during February and March - there’s nothing quite like cruising down the mountain under an Insta-worthy pink sky.
Things to do in Le Grand-Bornand
Love cheese? Then you’re going to love Le Grand Bornand. Well-known for its locally produced Reblochon, you’ll find tartiflette and fondue on every menu in town. And don’t miss the weekly farmers market to pick some up for the journey home. If you fancy a break from skiing, why not treat the family to a horse-drawn sleigh ride through whimsical snowy meadows, book an adrenaline-fuelled fat bike excursion, or indulge your competitive streak with some good old-fashioned sledge racing.
