in summary

+ Well appointed, ski out apartments
+ the apartments are ski-out (5 mins from the main lifts). They are not ski-in, but only a 5 minute walk down from the slopes
+ helpful reception (you can order baguettes for the morning)

- it takes around 20 minutes to get to the centre of the resort by bus (take the blue bus, then change to the red bus), and longer to walk. The bus stop is a 2 minute walk away
- there are no shops or bars nearby, the nearest convenience store is a Spar, which is at 20 minutes away on the bus (not ideal for self-catering)
- the apartments are tiny, which is quite normal in French apartments. Our apartment would in theory accommodate 8 people, in practice it is suitable for no more than 6. 
- there was a terrible problem with the drains in our apartment (in the shower room), the smell was really appalling and they were not able to get a plumber while we were there over new year.

Far from the action, tiny but modern apartments

We stayed in an apartment that should fit 8 people…. We were with a family of 6 and it was small! The master bedroom will not even fit a chair or anything. You’ll have to crawl into you bed, the side doesn’t really have any space to walk or move. 

The kitchen is poorly equipped. There is also nothing to have a little start like some coffee or tea or even some cleaning soap. Be prepared to bring everything! 

The towels you get at the start of your stay will not be replaced. When we asked for some fresh ones they told us it isn’t a hotel.

You can use the washing machine, but you need to pay for it and buy soap. But to be honest, I saw the laundry room, it is dirty! I wouldn’t even wash my clothes there!

On the last day the staff already put all of there stuff for cleaning in the elevator and hallway, this means you can hardly move around with your luggage when you want to leave. 

This place is about making money, not about customer satisfaction. The sad thing is, they don’t know better. They believe they do a good job, but there is lots to learn!

We loved Val D’isere and will come back but not to this accommodation.

When asked for clean towels after 4 days into a weeks stay, their answer was: this isn't a hotel.
You can imagine that if you ski all day and take a shower afterwards, clean towels after 4 days isn't too much of luxury.
1- star client handling.
Taking off your bed linen your self is more something for a student apartment, not for a € 5k weekly rate. 

The apartment is ok, some of the staff is friendly, some of the staff has this old school French attitude....

Summarizing: it was a one time booking.

We'll be back for Val d'Isere but we will look for a different accommodation.

5 star price, 1 star service. We will not come back anymore.

We have spent in beautiful Val D Isere a full week with my family during the school ski-break this Feb. The village and the overall resort has been amazing but we cannot say the same for the Chalet du Jardin Alpin. 
We were asked to pay our full stay-cost at the Chalet more than a month in advance - once we got there, we understood why. Upon our arrival we realized that our apartment had an extremely tiny bedroom (literally just fitting a double bed with no other furniture or cupboards) with zero physical light and just a small window overlooking the .. building’s internal corridor and building’s elevator - tiny, blind and claustrophobic. Also, the very small toilet room and the separate small bathroom next to it had both zero ventilation! (forcing us to have to open the living room window every single time we used the toilet or bathroom, to allow refresh the air in the rooms and apartment). In the living room with the kitchen, there was a double sofa (which was meant to be the double bed for our daughters) which was not opened and set for us at our arrival - we called the reception to ask them to prepare it for us and they told us to take the bed-sheets and rest linens and do it ourselves. The apartment was not properly cleaned at our arrival while we only had a light cleaning just once during our weekly stay. The first morning we wanted to make a coffee but there was no capsules for espresso nor a filter for filtered-coffee device, and asked reception if they can offer us any but they said they had none. This forced us to go buy all these extra staff from a supermarket already on day1 - wouldn’t call this a warm welcome. There was an underground parking which was not for free for guests (we had to pay 90€ per week to keep our car there) - again, would have expected a free parking when you pay almost 400€/ day for a family stay in an apartment. The photos is the chalet site do not for sure reassemble  the reality we experienced. The reception was operating only few hours per day, was slow, not really helpful nor kind. At our checkout they didn’t even asked us how our stay was. They asked us to take off all linens, clean apartment from any garbage and leave before 10 - again, that wasn’t for sure a nice gesture to thank us for our stay. Really disappointed - would for sure never come back there.

Overpriced, tiny blind bedroom & bad overall service experience!

This high standart residence (classification 4 stars) has been entirely renovated and restructured in 2014. The 24 apartments are divided into the chalets built in traditional style from local stone and wood and doted with slate roofs. Apartments as well as common spaces have been rethought to offer more space and services such as a spa with sauna and steam-room, bigger living rooms, modern and functional kitchens, while keeping the charming and cosy side of a mountain residence. We propose different types of apartments from the 2 rooms (2/4 pers) 35 m2 to the 6 rooms (10/12 pers) 127m2 including 2 of them adapted for disabled people. All apartments have a balcony or terrace, west or south, with a magnificent view on the Bellevarde massif or/and on the Manchet Valley/Animals are not allowed.
