Welcome to Les Houches Ski Resort

At just over an hour’s drive from Geneva, Les Houches is one of the closest ski resorts to any airport, making it the ideal hit for a short or weekend break. The resort itself is quite small but that gives it an intimate vibe away from the hustle and bustle. But it’s also part of the region that is the Chamonix Mont Blanc area. A free bus ride up the valley gives access to a huge amount of terrain to ski or ride, not to mention one of the liveliest party towns. For the best views of Mont Blanc and the easiest runs, head to Brévent-Flégère. If you’re more advanced, head on to the spectacular Grand Montets area.

Best time to ski in Les Houches

The whole of the Chamonix valley is a year-round destination and just as popular in summer as winter. The snow starts falling up high as early as September and by December it’s good to go. Since Les Houches isn’t as high as other parts of the valley, the most snow-sure times will be January through to March but there will always be something to ski in the valley until the end of April, even May. If you love a crowd and party atmosphere come for New Year. Chamonix is also home to loads of designer stores and famous brands, so it’s also a great place for some Christmas shopping.

Things to do in Les Houches

No visit to the valley is complete without a trip to 3,842m, the highest point in the resort, aboard the Aiguille du Midi cable car. From here you can try taking a ‘Step into the Void’, a glass box suspended 1,000m above the abyss. Probably not one for vertigo sufferers. Even if that’s not for you, it’s worth coming for the incredible views of the Mont Blanc peaks. Back in the valley, there’s dog sledding, paragliding, snowshoeing, tobogganing, cross-country skiing and a climbing wall. Alternatively sit back, relax and enjoy the chilled vibes and charms of Les Houches.
